Hiking the Heat Counseling Services, LLC

Online Counseling Services for people on their journey to mental wellness.

I am Maria Trimble, a licensed therapist in the states of Hawaii and Wisconsin. I provide trauma informed psychotherapy services to teenagers, families, and adult adoptees.

As a transracial, international adoptee I understand the struggle to find adoption competent resources and therapy. I aim to support adoptees on the journey of wholeness and understanding the complexities of loss and grief, identity, and relinquishment trauma.

I want to offer affordable counseling for adult adoptees and those in the foster care community. I am excited to offer low cost group therapy for adoptees that may not be able to pay out of pocket for individual counseling services. Mental health services for adoptees should be available and affordable!

FAQs

Q How do you approach therapy?

I approach therapy as a collaboration. Our therapeutic relationship must be developed and maintained for you to see the best results. Like any relationship it takes time, time I am willing and want to give. Once we have established a good foundation, we will then begin to explore the stressors in your life, your coping styles (both healthy and unhealthy) and your overall goals which brought you to therapy. I have no set time of 6 weeks or 12 weeks, I follow your lead.

Q How much does therapy cost?

At this time I do not work with insurance companies. Insurance companies require a diagnosis and my belief is that trauma and stress can cause reactions that are completely normal and do not always merit a diagnosis. I do not wish to further stigma or force a diagnosis/label. I do want to make therapy accessible to all.

Individual counseling fee is $80 per session. A therapy session is typically 60 minutes.

Family Counseling fee is 90$ per session and typically 60 minutes.

**Group sessions are a low cost alternative but do not skip on the therapeutic process. Not only will you grow and work on your goals you will be connected to others who are working on similar goals.

Group Counseling fee is $25 per person, per session. Sessions are typically 90 minutes and groups are limited to 6 people per group.

Q What is Group Therapy?

Group counseling is a form of counseling where a small group of people meet regularly to discuss, interact, and explore problems with each other and the group leader. Group counseling seeks to give individuals a safe and comfortable place where they can work out problems and emotional concerns.

Q What kinds of group therapy do you offer?

Current openings are for an adult adoptee group centered around the complexities of adoption and foster care. I am also developing a group for adolescent adoptees but it is not offered at this time.
