Grigsby Counseling Services

Healing Through Connection

I work with people who present with all sorts of concerns, including issues related to gender and sexuality, race and racial identity, anxiety, depression, unhealthy eating, drug and alcohol use, life adjustment and transition, grief and loss, self-esteem, interpersonal conflict, and dating and intimate relationships. I also help people who are interested in self-discovery and seeking opportunities to learn more about themselves and others. While I feel equipped to meet the needs of most people who seek my help, I find that I’m most energized when I’m working with clients who are motivated and invested in the therapeutic process. I work best with people who arrive with an open mind and a trusting heart and who are committed to making lasting, meaningful changes in their lives

In therapy, my goal is to help you tap into the resources that already exist within you. I believe you possess wisdom, resilience, sound judgment, love and compassion for yourself and others, and a host of other strengths that can be refined or rediscovered through the process of therapy. I also believe that authentic human connection is the primary conduit of healing in therapy, so I strive to make our work relational – not just symptom-focused. I do this by lending a listening ear, offering empathic support, helping you consider things from multiple perspectives, giving feedback, sharing insight from my own lived experience, processing things that happen between us in the therapy room, and examining the ways our interactions might be similar to or different from others in your life outside of therapy. I also love to use humor, so we will probably do our fair share of laughing together.

In my downtime, I enjoy singing, dancing, reading memoirs, spending time outdoors, and making people laugh.

If you want to know more about me or are interested in working with me in therapy, please reach out. Currently, I am accepting clients and would welcome the opportunity to connect with you!

    FAQs

    Q Do you provide teletherapy?

If you are interested in teletherapy, please let me know, and I will work with you to determine if this service would be appropriate for your needs.

    Q Do you accept insurance?

Currently, I am recognized as a provider for Optum/United Behavioral Health, CareFirst BCBS, and Maryland Medicaid (but only as an affiliate of a separate practice: Respect My Beautiful Counseling and Consulting).* If you are insured, but not covered by any of the above providers, I am willing to provide a super-bill for you to submit for possible out-of-network reimbursement. You also have the option of paying for services out-of-pocket. If you choose this option, I will accept payment by cash, debit, credit, and check.

    * Attention -- If you want to use your insurance to cover the cost of your sessions, please initiate services at Respect My Beautiful Counseling and Consulting and request to work with me.

Q Will I need to receive a diagnosis?

It is within my scope of practice to diagnose and treat mental and emotional disorders. If you choose to pay with insurance, it will be necessary for me to provide a diagnosis, which will become a part of your medical record. However, if you are paying out-of-pocket, a diagnosis is not necessary. If you are not paying with insurance, but you still want a diagnosis for your own records, I can provide one as requested.
