What is DBT?
Dialectical Behavioral Therapy is an evidence based model that focuses on core attachment trauma and environmental influences. Dbt consists of 4 modules: Distress Tolerance, Emotion Regulation, Mindfulness, and Interpersonal Effectiveness.
How do I know if I need DBT or trauma therapy?
If you are a person of color, you have already endured trauma on a cellular level in addition to environmental invalidation. If you feel your emotions feel intense and you have difficulty with impulsivity, feel challenges with effective communication, feel as though nobody understands you or that you are “hopeless” DBT is the modality for you.
