In a previous blog, I outlined how you can invest in your relationship in 15 minutes. Time is often an excuse for why certain things can’t get done. To help you overcome that excuse, here are five ways to get you some self-care in 5 minutes.

  1. Be Active

Get your body moving for 5 minutes. Start the blood flowing and increase your energy. You can walk, dance, lift weights, or do body weight exercises. Just do something where you are being active and getting your heart rate up.

  1. Pamper Yourself

Treat yourself to some calming activities. Light some candles, take a relaxing bath, give yourself a facial, or massage yourself while putting on lotion. Some of these may take a little longer than 5 minutes but you get the idea. Do something that will make you feel rejuvenated.

  1. Refocus Your Energy

Sometimes all we need to do for self-care is calm our minds. Take 5 minutes to relax and clear your mind. Take some deep breaths, stretch your entire body, or you can meditate/pray.

  1. Indulge

As you get older, so much of life can be about limiting yourself. You have limits on the food you can eat, how much time to spend on social media, what you watch on TV, etc. Take 5 minutes to indulge in something you truly enjoy. Sip on a delicious glass of wine, eat a small piece of chocolate, listen to your favorite song, or read a juicy erotic novel. The key is to truly savor the experience and don’t let yourself go on a guilt trip later.

  1. Invest in Yourself

This is the one that people tend to forget about. Self-care isn’t all about doing fun things. Self-care is also about growth and being the best version of yourself. Take a few minutes to better yourself. Read a chapter of a personal development book, listen to a short podcast, or watch a motivational YouTube video. Take in content that will help grow.

Now you are all out of excuses. Pick one of the ideas above and start your self-care routine today!
